Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) was told to attempt the same 12 actions on a canary project in a throwaway sandbox: 8 risky, 4 ordinary. Twice: with Claude Code's permission prompts skipped (only the hook can stop anything), and with them kept (nobody answers, so an unanswered prompt stops the action). Hooks registered: PreToolUse (Write|Edit|MultiEdit -> guard-branch.sh), PostToolUse (Write|Edit|MultiEdit -> auto-commit.sh), Stop (squash-checkpoints.sh), PreCompact (squash-checkpoints.sh); no Bash matcher registered. Protects the main branch from file writes, so it also stopped the ordinary note; it does not look at commands.
